A boy or girl or both?

Well, on Thursday we got our official mid-way ultrasound. Both babies are healthy and growing. They are both 10 ounces, with one being 8 grams more than the other.

The first baby is a girl. We've named her Rosie (Rosalina). Her name came from the kids wanting a sister Rosie. AnnaLisa favored calling her "Rosa Parks". While I have great respect for Rosa Parks, I don't know that I want to name my kids after anyone in history (family history where all we know is a name is different). We had picked RosaLee following the pattern for girl names in our family (that happened by accident) of two names put together for the first name (AnnnaLisa and MaggieMae). Andrew one day asked me what we would call the girl (remember AnnaLisa and Andrew both told me in January when I found out I was pregnant that not only was I having twins, but they each told me we were going to have a boy and a girl). I told Andrew that we were planning on RosaLee. Andrew thought to himself and then said we should call her RosaLina, you know, like Kristina. So it has stuck. We are still working on a middle name, but for now it is RosaLina Park.

The second baby is a boy. We are going to name him William Christopher Park. William is a fairly common first name is family history in the Park family. Also it is my maiden name as well as Jeff's mom's maiden name. So lots of rich history to blame that name on. Christopher I guess you could say relates to my first name. Jeff picked out William's name.

It is interesting seeing the two and their actions on the ultrasound. I think it is a lot like a parent with a first child. You don't know what is typical and what is the personality of your child. It was around baby #3 that we finally felt like we knew what was "baby" and what was our individual children's personality.

Rosie is very active, not hyper but moves a lot. She likes her hands by her face. She is still laying in the same position (head by my left hip.

William is mellow (compared to Rosie). He too has his head by my left hip, and often has his hands by his face, however he prefers to cover his face with his arms and hands. Jeff joked about how William doesn't like the flash (the technician kept trying to get a face picture of him, but he would not move his arms). Finally the technician just went "through" (with ultrasound you can do this) his arm to get his face.

Family Easter picture

Okay, again not the best picture, but it shows everyone (except me)in the Easter outfit. The girls in their beautiful dresses, JJ with his tie clipped on to the second button of his white shirt (he has worn it this way for almost a year, although more times than not he won't wear one at all), Andrew showing his loose front tooth, and Jeff in the same suit he wore to our Wedding reception. Oh, and MaggieMae's fists are clenched because she has Easter candy in them which she shoved into her mouth immediately after Jeff put her down.

Easter Dresses for the girls

A friend of mine (Becky Blake) wanted to make Easter dresses for my girls. I told her okay (I am willing to let people do ridiculously nice things for me). They were just gorgeous dresses.

The girls are still learning to pose (not that this was a "picturesque" background), but MaggieMae was not really cooperating too well.

The little things in life

This may sound crazy, but I have been wanting new silverware for a few years. We decided we were going to get some last year and just could not find a style that we liked. Well, again this year we went searching (in January) and still nothing that we really liked. We tried one set and after the second wash it started rusting. I was very upset and we immediately returned it.

Part of the problem is that we were thrilled with the set that we currently have, but it is no longer in stock. We have been missing a few spoons and with 6 people in the house, and 8 piece set just does not go far.

Last Wednesday I was at the store and walked by the aisle that had silverware and I noticed a set that we had tried to track down but could not find in stores. Well, I guess my patience had finally dissipated, because I bought two sets on the spot. I cautiously opened the first set and we have been using it all week long and no rust so far! If we continue to have this type of success, we will open the next set at the end of the month.

As a side note, usually Jeff and I buy things together (outside of groceries and shopping for clothes for the kids). I called him up on the way home from the store and told him that I bought these and that unless they rusted we were keeping them. He was a bit shocked. Then I told him that my patience had run out on the silverware issue.

Is my son a hill-billy?

Andrew has a front tooth missing. His other front tooth has been loose for about two weeks now. He loves to play with it and wiggle it. But his favorite thing to do is to make it turn diagonally (like a diamond) while pushing it out between his lips. It makes him look goofy (which I am sure is what he is going for). It makes me think of some stereo typed version of a hill-billy. I don't know why, but the name "Cletus" comes to mind every time I see him doing it. He does it for every picture these days (unless I specifically request him not to.

...of course sometimes there are "accidents"

While they were peacefully playing in the backyard, JJ had a "car accident". I don't think this was coordinated with the other kids, because he lay on the ground for so long he had to change positions because he was getting sore. They eventually "found" him and took him to the doctors. Actually before they found him he changed his "crash position" so that his feet were inside and he was comfortably laying his back on the ground.

This does not always happen, but I really do enjoy my kiddos playing nicely together, even when there are "accidents".

Sometimes it happens...

One Saturday morning the kids were playing especially well together. They usually play well, but this one was fantastic (did I mention that they did it while I got a short nap (don't worry Jeff was home too).

We try hard to get our kids to play nicely with each other and we are starting to see the fruits of our labors.
